Caring for your jewelry

It is very important to know how to care for your jewelry to prevent damaging and to prolong it’s life. 24k gold is a very soft metal and some of the pieces I make are more delicate than others and require extra caution. The following instructions will provide you with all the information required.

Ways Damage Can Occur

24k gold is a soft metal and heavy pressure or dropping the item may dent or bend it, especially jewelry from the sculpted collection.

Rings may conform to the shape of your finger, especially if you lift heavy objects or clap tightly.

Avoid sharp impacts, especially if items contain soft stones such as emerald, pearls or if it is made from a thin sheet of gold or thin threaded wires.

Jewelry storage

A hard box with a soft inside, like the one you are getting when purchasing my jewelry, is the best way to protect pieces from damage.

Store link necklaces and bracelets flat to avoid deformation.

Close chains to prevent knotting.

Pack items separately, keeping them together cam cause rubbing between items which can damage the surface.

Guard against earring backs being bent by packing carefully.

Soft touch

Due to the softness of the metal, we need to use materials that are softer than the metal itself to handle/clean the jewels without harming them.

Cleaning gold

For pieces without soft gemstones, soak the item for 15 minutes in a solution of two cups of warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Use a cotton swab to gently clean it. In special cases, that require a deeper clean, use a soft toothbrush with warm water, then rinse thoroughly. In both cases, dry the piece with a soft cloth.
