How to Care for Your Jewellery
Knowing how to care for your jewellery is essential to preventing damage and preserving it over time. 24-karat gold is a naturally soft metal, and some of the pieces I make are more delicate than others and require additional care. The following guidelines provide the information needed to wear, store and care for your jewellery properly.

On the Nature of Damage
24-karat gold, known for its purity and softness, requires mindful care when worn and handled. Its malleable nature makes it susceptible to dents or bending when exposed to sharp impacts, heavy pressure or accidental drops. Particular care should be taken with pieces set with softer gemstones, such as emeralds or pearls, as well as with delicate goldwork such as loop-in-loop chains, hollow forms or finely embossed pendants.
Worth Noting
Rings may gradually adapt to the shape of the finger, particularly when subjected to pressure while lifting heavy objects or clapping firmly.

The Poetry of Preservation
A rigid box with a soft interior, such as the one provided with each piece, offers optimal protection from damage. Link necklaces and bracelets should be stored flat to prevent distortion, while chains should be fastened to avoid tangling. Each piece is best stored separately to prevent contact that may cause surface abrasion. Earring backs should be stored with care to avoid bending or deformation.

Soft Touch
Because of the natural softness of gold, only materials softer than the metal itself should come into contact with the jewellery during handling or cleaning. This helps prevent marks on the surface and preserve the jewellery’s original lustre and form.
Cleaning Gold
For gold jewellery without threaded elements, soft gemstones or pearls, gentle cleaning is recommended. Soak the piece for approximately fifteen minutes in a solution of two cups of warm water and a few drops of mild washing-up liquid. After soaking, gently clean the surface with a cotton bud to remove any residue. If further cleaning is required, carefully use a soft baby toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry gently with a soft, lint-free cloth.
